Originally a Wild Dog release commemorating our 10th anniversary. Double Dog Double Pale Ale became here to stay in 2009. Could you control such a beast?

This is a big beer that calls for equally big foods. Flavor notes: Citrus hops with sweet malt and subtle alcohol burn (like a kiss on the cheek) Pairs with: Extra sharp aged Cheddar and stinky Blue cheese; smoked brisket; spicy foods with chili or cayenne pepper; earthy desserts like carrot cake.

355ml bottle. Clear orangey golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Hoppy aroma, caramel malty background, cautious fruity hints of tangerine and raisins. Taste is bitter hoppy, caramel malty basis, cautious fruity notes of citrus and tangerine; really bitter hoppy finish, well hidden alcohol.

Smak och doft av malt, humle, mint, hostmedicin, blommig med citrusbeska. Alkoholen slår igenom (onöndigt hög alkoholhalt?) och alldeles för sötsliskig.

355 ml bottle @ Patricks. Clear, reddish/deep golden body with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, dry fruit, tropical fruit, resin and hint of brown sugar. Flavor is sweet, quite heavy malt, dry fruit and quite bitter. The alcohol is warming, but quite well camouflaged, it’s almost a bit barley wine in style. Full body and a really nice aftertaste of sweet malt and fruity bitterhops. Nice.

Kolejne dobre piwo od Flying Doga. Bardzo mocne, najmocniejsze piwo jakie piłem ze stanu Maryland. Mocny alkoholowy smak i rozgrzewający finisz. Cytrusowe i owocowe aromaty. Wyczuwam cukier brązowy, skórki różnych owoców. Słodkawo rozgrzewające piwo. Alkohol przy tym stężeniu dominuje ale nie przytłacza i nie wyczuwa się go w zapachu. Dobre amerykańskie ale

35,5 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 09.12.2009
Aroma is quite typical to ASA: fruity hops, caramel and hints of resin. Also some alcohol. Flavour is hoppy and sweet with exotic fruits, caramel, some toffee and gooseberry bush. Somewhat too boozy and sweet, but not bad still.

cloudy, dark orange body, massive, long lasting off-white head;aroma of citrus; taste is strongly dominated by hoppy bitterness with citrus and long lasting bitter aftertaste; a bit too much bitterness for me, but otherwise perfect ale

Bottle from Klub Malych Pivovaru, Plzen. Aroma is very tempting, indeed raisins and citrus as commercial description says. I would add caramel, light wood. Colour is clear reddish amber. Taste is intense and complex. High bitterness with citrus and exotic fruits, supported by strong caramel-wood-raisin malt character. Finish is long, warm, unfortunately alcohol comes in. However at 11,5% I would not call that a big flaw.

Bottle. Amber, clear with a large orange head. Chocolate aroma with some sence of alc. Lots of alc. when you taste, with a choco and malty end, strange notes

33cl bottle at Miguel’s Bar, Madrid. Pours nice amber with an off-white head. Malty and hoppy aroma with caramel, pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Sweet, medium body. Malty and strong, but still refreshing. Pleasant bitterness. (2012-08-18)
