Originally a Wild Dog release commemorating our 10th anniversary. Double Dog Double Pale Ale became here to stay in 2009. Could you control such a beast?
This is a big beer that calls for equally big foods. Flavor notes: Citrus hops with sweet malt and subtle alcohol burn (like a kiss on the cheek) Pairs with: Extra sharp aged Cheddar and stinky Blue cheese; smoked brisket; spicy foods with chili or cayenne pepper; earthy desserts like carrot cake.

33cl bottle at Miguel’s Bar, Madrid. Pours nice amber with an off-white head. Malty and hoppy aroma with caramel, pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Sweet, medium body. Malty and strong, but still refreshing. Pleasant bitterness. (2012-08-18)

355ml Bottle (Thanks Nisse666) - Hazy amber with a small head. Leather, spicy malt, dried fruit and toffee in the aroma. Rich, fruity and malty taste with a nice dose of citrussy fruits and toffee. Warming and despite being very boozy, it’s easy to drink.

BIG: bitter, malty and hoppy with a no-holds-barred high alchohol kick. This is one that you really need to drink more than a sample to get the full range of flavor. After the initial sips have your palate on high alert to the boldness, the later sips seem smoother and mellow. This beer has me trying other Flying Dog offerings (disappointing), but I will always have this in my refrigerator when it is available.

Clear dark orange to amber beer, small off)white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, lots of ripe fruits, honey, sugary, little chemical, dusty, some alcohol. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of sweet malts, bit sugary, honey, piny bitterness, pretty fruity, passion fruits, ripe peaches, citrus and grapefruit. Aftertaste: very bitter, citrus peel, bit chemical.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%, 85 IBU. Amber colour, moderate off-white head. Strong sweetish aroma of orange marmalade, crystal malts, loads of American hops - and some alcohol. The flavour is sweet (orange marmalade again) and alcoholic, and very hoppy throughout, with a solid bitterness. Certainly not "easy drinking" - but when you finally admit that you have to drink this beer VERY slowly, it is not that bad. Just not Flying Dog’s best.

Refrigerated 11.5% abv bottle served at Pies and Pints Charleston. Pours clear dark amber with reddish hue and small off-white head that dissapates fairly quickly. Little lacing, medium body, low carbonation, and bitter hop aroma. Taste is grapefruit, hint of pine, alcohol (turns into lots of alcohol as it warms), and slight bitter finish. This is a hop bomb I will not have it again.

Bottled, 0.355l. Hazy deep amber colour with short lasting frothy brownish head and not noticeable carbonation.Exquisite hoppy and caramel aroma with stron notes of roasted malt and some fruits, too. Sweet malty start, full and rich mouthfeel, followed by long-lasting bitter aftertaste. Full bodied, creamy mouth-coating texture with lively carbonation. Very good, but too strong for everyday (ab)use...

Bottle from Bierzwerg. Amber color with medium beige head. Aroma grapefruit, vanilla, pines, spices. Taste, fruity, mainly grapefruit, burned sugar, pines, some spices. Nice long bitter finish. Excellent.
