Bottle from Cashwise Liquors: Muddy caramel color with no real head. Fruity and sweet aroma at first before earthy and peat notes emerge. Definitely better as it warmed. The flavor builds on the sweetness with candied fruit, Belgian sugar, and a sweet fruitiness that I associate with a berry, but cannot pinpoint. Oddly swirling flavors compete with one another. I wanted to like this, I really did... probably a little too sweet for my taste.

330mL bottle, pours a clear dark mahogany with a small beige head. Nose brings out loads of caramel, some dark dried fruits (dates, figs), and a bit of candied sugar. Flavour is very similar, bringing out caramel, candied sugar and dark dried fruits all in equal parts. Extremely well-balanced, with no parts too dominating. The 8% is extremely well-concealed, making this dangerously drinkable. Great stuff.

Perfekt balans, mogen men fortfarande kraften kvar. Lite kort eftersmak. Riktigt gott.

Very interesting take on a wee heavy by a Belgian brewery! Lovely amber pour with generous head. Lighter fruits, nuts, caramel on the aroma, and in the taste too, some lingering sweetness, but a solid, well-made beer.

Single from the SAQ. Pours a deep amber colour with a frothy, beige cap that has good retention and leaves a bit of soapy lacing. Nutty nose at first, but then, loads of apples come out with some butterscotch. Pretty much the same for the taste, but a little milder, and with a tad of alcohol showing. The nuts show more in the aftertaste this time. Decent Scotch ale, but not one I would have again. In this range of strong Scotch ales, preferred the "À l’Abri de la Tempête Corne de Brume".
