La Scotch Silly, se classe dans la catégorie des bières qu’un savoir-faire acquis au fil du temps a su élever au-dessus de la mêlée. Sa robe, d’un beau rouge cuivré, est assortie d’une mousse beige. Son nez complexe fait penser à la brioche aux raisins secs, aux fruits confits et à la framboise fraîche. Généreuse et ample en bouche, presque liquoreuse, elle évoque le miel et le caramel avant de s’achever sur des notes de pruneau et de malt torréfié.

not a bad beer, but not ehat i had hoped it would be, a little too raisiny. thats all i could taste w/ this one, needs a little more hops to round out the malts. and it doesnt really need to be that high in abv, a little overkill.

33cl Bottle from Achelse Kluis. Clear cola brown colour, dense off white head. Aroma of burnt sugar, light spices, sugar and a hint of peat. Flavour is sweet, dark fruits, caramel, sugar, hint of chocolate, sweet and light bitter alcohol finish. Medium bodied. Too sweet for me.

Pours a clear brown with a white head which gradually disappears. Aromas of marzipan, dark fruits, chocolate, sweet spices. Flavours of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, light malts. Finishes laden with malts and a slightly bitter finish. Not too bad.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Hey a Scotch Ale, man I love this style, I mean it’s just so, what’s the word I’m looking for???? Oh yes, Complete bollocks. It’s a syrupy ESB/Belgian Ale. Decent fruit and malt on the aroma, fullish in the mouth. A little bit of butter on the aroma. Too toffeeish in the mouth to be honest and not enough hop presence. Gets sweeter all the time and not in a good way. And people rate this highly?? Bet they’ve never been to Scotland, boy a shock they’d get in the east end of Glasgow asking for a Scotch ale. A one hit wonder and not very good at that either.

33cl bottle. pours darkbown, beige head. Aroma and taste light caramel malts notes, fruity some candy sugar. Nice touch of dry fruits with a nice malty caramel and yeasty finish. A fine example of a Scotch Ale with the Belgian twist. Alawyas available in my village and at around 1€45 a bottle you can’t pass the offer.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, reddish amber colour with a mid-sized tanned foamy head. Sweet, earthy and roast-malty aroma with caramel and berry-fruity notes. Sweet flavour, malt-accented, roasty taste with an underlyiung fruit-character of red berries, mildly roasty bitter and fruity finish with a good malty base and a warming, fairly well-integrated alcoholic touch. The Scottish elements are almost non-detectable except for a touch of iodine during the finish; an unpleasant metallic note fades quickly. All in all pretty likeable (12.III.09).

Dark brown colour. Massive dry, oaky, malty aroma. Really rounded texture in the mouth. Lots of malty sweetness is balanced well against the alcohol.

Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Poured a deep brown colour with a decent sized tan head. Aroma was sweet and loaded with fruit. Stickyish, syrupy mouthfeel. Flavour was belting and got better with each swig; sweet malt, caramel, wood, plum, cherry. Subtle booze kick into a softish finish. Yum...Good stuff pal !
