33 cL bottle. Light caramel aroma with non-sweet fruit aspects. Luminous dark amber color with a frothy beige head that persists. Medium bodied; mild carbonation. Starts with sweet caramel malt, backed by slightly dark fruit hints, and nuts or woodiness. Basically it finishes lightly sweet, but balanced by some floral hop. Scotch suggests smoke, but I don’t get that. A bit reminiscent of Adelscot. This is one I could drink anytime.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Innsbrook. Cloudy dark mohogany brown body with a small creamy tan head. Sweet malty rum soaked fruit aroma with hints of oak. Sweet sugary caramel and molassas flavor with light rum soaked fruit hints and a touch of spice.

Bouteille 750ml. De couleur ambrée-cuivrée et semi-voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (prunes, notes d’agrumes, de pommes et de raisins), malté de caramel sucré, de sucre brun, léger d’alcool, de houblon herbeux, de butterscotch et de sucre bonbon avec des petites notes boisées, fumées, épicées (muscade) et de noix. Moyenne-ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-fort et une texture moyennement crémeuse et aux petites notes sirupeuses. Goût de levures fruitées (prunes, léger de raisins et de pommes, traces d’agrumes) avec un léger goût boisé et épicé (notes de poivre et de muscade) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel toffee sucré, légèrement rôti et terreux, léger de butterscotch, de sucre brun et de sucre bonbon avec des notes de pain parallèlement à un goût d’alcool moyen et réchauffant puis en finale l’on retrouve un goût moyennement amer et asséchant de houblon floral aux notes herbeuses ainsi qu’un léger goût de chocolat noir, de levures épicées (poivre) et également de petites notes fumées et métalliques. Post-goût long et un peu sec, moyennement amer d’alcool, de houblon herbeux, léger de rôti avec un goût fruité (pelures de prunes et de pommes, notes de zest d’agrumes) et des notes boisées.

Cloudy copper color, big foamy head. Aroma very malty and melanoidiny, with a persimmon and peach fruitiness, also some vanilla, oak and rum, and plenty of dark sugar. Flavor somewhat weird, sweet and papery, and now the aroma seems somewhat sherryish, and I begin to worry about some oxidation here. Slick mouthfeel. Flavor not nearly as complex as the aroma.

Bottle: Reddish brown with a light brown head. The aroma was sweet caramel and malt. Taste was sweet caramel and sugar.

Süßlich-würziger, etwas fruchtiger Geruch. Würziger, deutlich alkoholischer Antrunk. Im Mittelteil steigern sich die Aromen, deutlich karamellmalzig ist das Bier hier. Sehr würziger und karamellmalziger Nachgeschmack. Das Bier ist durchgehen sehr süß, was mit etwas zu stark erscheint. Nettes, starkes Bier, das man über einen längeren Zeitraum genießen sollte. ruby coloured ale, with a toffeeeish nose, sweet toffee malt with a little bitterness . Tk2 26/12/2007 ... copper ... sweet toffee ... woody toffee ... big fruity malt ... slightly syrupy ... full boddied. 3.4 -3.6

12 oz bottle poured slightly hazy deep copper color with nice creamy off white head and good lacing. The aroma is of sweet malts, roasted malts, something that seems like maple syrup or a wood note and a hint of alcohol. The taste hits with rich caramel to roasted malts and a yeast note. There’s also vanilla beans floating in maple syrup served up in a freshly milled oak bowl. Nice Scotch Ale with plenty of balance and interest.
