At Cambrinus, Bruges. Pours cloudy dark brown with a foamy, tan head that leaves lacing. The aroma contains butterscotch, chocolate, sugar, malt, vanilla, some spices and hops. It tastes heavy to medium sweet (caramel and vanilla) and light to medium spicy bitter. That bitterness balances out an appearing cloying sweetness. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. A great dessert beer, I like this a lot! Too bad the style is not more popular in Belgium.

330 ml bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep reddish/copper/light brown color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/chocolate, herbal, wood, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Just a bit too fruity in the aromas, but not overwhelming. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/chocolate, herbal, wood, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/woody/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/chocolate, herbal, wood, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly drying from lingering bitterness as well. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a very nice Scotch ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering, and well made example of the style.

Utóízében a korty folytatódik, és jó sokáig kitart. Testes sör.

330 ml bottle. Unclear amber body with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is malty with caramel and some dry fruit. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, light fruity and moderate bitterness. Fine body and sweet malty aftertaste. Kinda nice, but a bit too sweet and somehow a bit one-dimensional.

Clear deep amber brown colour, small frothy beige head, receding slowly, thin layer remains, fair lacing. Sweet malty aroma, roasted, cocoa, caramel, liquorice, raisins, dates, brown sugar. Taste light heavy sweet, slightly bitter, malty, light milk chocolate, toffee, brown sugar. Aftertaste mild sweetbitter, slightly roasted, light spicy notes, bit vinous, medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. A classic Scotch, very pleasant.
