$2 for the 330 ml bottle, no dating to be found.
Pours a deep brown red, appears to be clear, very small short lasting head of off white foam, some lacing.
Caramel and toasted malt smell, I sense some oxidation.
Taste is of caramel, toasted bread, butterscotch, cardboard, and a cherry like fruitiness.
Pretty big body with very low carbonation.
Past its prime I'm sure but not bad. A nice warming factor going on.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Tromsdalen. Really good looking in the glass with its deep copper coloured body and frothy, off-white head, solid stand and spotty lacework. Smell of brown malts and brown sugar. Blended taste of brittle caramel, plums, raisin, and apricot with a yeasty touch beneath. Drying finish. Mostly hidden alcohol. Fine bodied. Maybe a tad too sweet, likable stuff whatsoever (Tromsø 22.03.2015).

Tap at the Matroz Kocsma, Budapest. Poured a murky dark brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is rich sweet malt. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter with a big sweet malt liquorice, light caramel palate and a lingering bitter alcoholic finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Silly is one of the last breweries in Belgium which still brews an old school Scotch (a genre once more popular in Belgium than in Scotland but now usually considered obsolete) ànd dares to effectively call it that, as it is my theory that Belgium still has dozens of Scotch beers ’in disguise’, not in the least many of the Christmas ales. This one has a pretty bronze colour under a light beige head and a very malty aroma, caramelly and nutty, with brown sugar, raisins, chocolate, estery fruitiness and liquorice, and a gentle roasted bitterness in the finish. I enjoyed this a lot and consider it a classic in its style - at least of the ones which are actually still called ’Scotch’, and those can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Mørk brun noe uklar med lavt beige skum. Lukter malt og brunt sukker. Smaker søtt av brendt sukke, med lett bitterhet i avslutningen.
