Bloody ‘Ell – We have never brewed a straight IPA at Beavertown, why change the habit of a lifetime! Here we take a stripped back IPA malt bill and highly hop it with the tropics of Amarillo and Citra and pile head on with kilos of Blood Orange zest and juice late in the boil, bringing you a smack of citrus and hints of warm orange aromas. One of our favourite and most popular seasonal brews. We will be canning Bloody ‘Ell too from February until the bloody oranges run dry!

Cloudy dark orange, 1 finger creamy white head. Aroma is bright and juicy with bitter orange peel, clementine juice and tangerine. Taste is juicy, sweet, lots of citrus skin. Maybe caramel and for sure some sweetness and mouthfeel from the malt backbone. nice balance!

5/III/15 - 33cl can @ Drunken Driver's tasting (home) - BB: 10/VIII/15 (2015-266) Thanks to jc1762 for the can!
Clear deep blond to light orange beer, creamy yellowish irregular head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: citrus, orange peel, fruity, bit piny, some pineapple, sweet, caramel malt. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity to almost sweet start, nice bitterness, little sugary, some orange peel. Aftertaste: little sweet, malty, nice bitterness, grapefruit, dry bitter ending. Way better than on tap (ACBF 2015)

RE-RATE: Can @ Chez Sophie, batch 3. Pours hazy gold, thin white head. More orange zest in the aroma this time, taste more juicy with nice amarillo lime notes. Very tasty, balanced flavours. Much better. Can @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury & also courtesy of Beavertown at the Guardian offices last year. Very light zesty citrus aroma. Taste lacks much in the way of the blood orange I got from last year’s batch. Pleasant and easy drinking, just a little disappointing.

Can, Rehills, Newcastle. Hazy gold pour with a thin white head. Enticing nose of blood orange, ganja and summer fruits. Resinous hop to burn in the flavour. Smooth, comforting mouthfeel. Spot on and deeply satisfying bitterness. Drinkability through the bastard roof. Blood Oranges and Citra hops, 2 of my favourite things, what’s not to like ? Absolutely belting beer, right up my avenue.

Clean translucent orange gold with no head. The nose shows hefty notes of orange accompanied by copious amounts of fresh pine, cannabis, and tropical fruit. The palate shows a very strong orange overlay on top of everything with the fresh, ripe, and sweet fruit notes of the hops in between. Sharp IPA bitterness at the end finishes off the beer.
