A classic dry stout of 7% vol alcohol, brewed with smoked wheat malt and flavored with fresh vanilla.

Charbon is a beer with contradictions: the roasted flavors work together with the smoke flavor from oak-smoked wheat malt to give a good dose of pit with the beer. On the other hand the customized extract of fresh vanilla gives us a mild soft and subtle touch in the beer. The combination provides a thrilling Stout on which the antithetical taste nevertheless ensures a harmonious and balanced whole.

Bottle. Deep brown colour. A huge beige head. Thick laces. Aroma: roasted malts, chocolate, smoke, cheese. Medium minus body. Medium dry taste. Dark malts, roasted barley, dark chocolate, coffee, less smoky than the aroma. Light bitter hops. Complex enough. Nice one.

Pours a dark brown almost black colour with a small frothy and creamy tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malts, chocolate, and wood smoke. A sweet chocolatey taste with vanilla, liquorice and smoke flavours. Smooth in the mouth with an oily texture and a dry finish but very nice.

Bottle shared with friends at Pivoteka, Zagreb in autumn of 2017. Thanks! Hazy dark brown, small off-white head. Lightly smoked, dark malts, roasty and dried fruits. Light dry. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, lasting dry finish. Good one!

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij Culemborg. Black with a big beige head. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Can't make out the smoke to be honest. Taste is pleasantly bittersweet with a long chocolate-vanilla finish. Very nice.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma color cenere e cappuccino. Al naso sentori di cioccolato, frutta matura, datteri, vaniglia, con leggere note affumicate. In bocca Γ¨ ricca e complessa, davvero ben fatta, appagante, dolce con finale caffettoso e leggermente amarognolo, affumicato leggero. Corpo medio-alto, carbonazione medio-leggera. Molto buona.
