A classic dry stout of 7% vol alcohol, brewed with smoked wheat malt and flavored with fresh vanilla.
Charbon is a beer with contradictions: the roasted flavors work together with the smoke flavor from oak-smoked wheat malt to give a good dose of pit with the beer. On the other hand the customized extract of fresh vanilla gives us a mild soft and subtle touch in the beer. The combination provides a thrilling Stout on which the antithetical taste nevertheless ensures a harmonious and balanced whole.

Bottle. Almost black, big foamy brown head. Carbonized roast, peaty, rural, quite phenolic. medium light, foamy, dry roast, sour apple barrel, iodine, licorice, bread, phenolic finish. Some interesting notes, but too much paint thinner for me.

Bottle, slight gusher. Murky brown color with large beige head. Aroma is smoked, chocolate, vanilla, roast. Taste is soapy, smoked, fruity, fresh yeast, chocolate. Silky mouthfeel with high, but soft carbonation. A bit infected it seems, but tasty enough.

0.33l bottle. Black body with a brown head. The aroma is smoky with notes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla. Taste of roasted malts, vanilla, smoke and a nice amount of floral hops. Nice one.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker.
Pours cloudy dark brown/black with a lasting, small, foamy, beige head. Complex aroma of roasted malt, smoke, smoked meat, cigar ash, dark fruits, some vanilla. It tastes light creamy sweet with hints of vanilla and light to medium roasted bitter; very light sour touches in the back (berries). The finish is smoky, toasty with umami notes. Medium/full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Complex yet very drinkable.
