Bottle: Perfect score on appearance; near black with two fingers of creamy brown head. Nice topper throughout and light lacing. Nose is intense with fresh espresso, roast, and cocoa. A coffee lover’s dream. Intense coffee flavors build throughout with a light bittersweet chocolate finish, but enough espresso to balance. Plenty of roast. For a moment, in the middle, I thought it was a little dry or chalky, but this fades away. The only negative (minor) seems to be the transition of flavors being a little rough, edgy if you will. Maybe just a little more emphasis on mocha or cocoa could smooth this out and I’d be jumping up and down all day long. Overall it’s really quite good, just shy of excellent, as it meets my every expectation of a coffee porter.

Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours oily dark brown with a huge frothy and fizzy mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is malty and very tiny sour with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, lemon juice, green bell peppers, moist soil, charred wood, bitter chocolate, hay and brown sugar. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, tiny sour and malty with toasted malts, dark roast coffee, lemon juice, raw green bell peppers, hay, cocoa powder, roast paprika, charred wood and caramel. Mouthfeel is round, tiny roasted tart and medium bodied. finish is bitter and sour with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, roasted paprika, caramel, bitter chocolate, hay and charred wood. Rather meh...

500ml bottle. Hazy, very dark brown colour and a medium brown head. Notes of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma. Moderately sweet and bitter taste. The beer is medium-bodied with a quite oily texture and soft carbonation. I’ve tried better porters.

From a 500ml bottle (shared by Butz - thanks). Has a huge coffee aroma with a good dash of brown sugar and some caramel. All the aforementioned features in the flavour as well. This a coffee bomb, with sweet mocha overtones and just a hint of dark fruit. The bitterness is moderate, the body medium, and the carbonation subdued. Really easy to drink and packed with flavour. If you’re into coffee, this is a must try. One of the best I’ve had from this brewery.

Mørk sort av farge. Tynt dekkende skum.
