Bottle bought some place I don’t remember. Pours tiny reddish dark brown with a rather small beige head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and smokey with dark bread, toasted oatmeal flakes, sweet liquorice, moist soil, burnt wood, smoke, hay and lemon zest. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, malty and smokey with roasted malts, dark bread, crispbread, burnt wood, dark roast coffee, smoked sausage, hay, liquorice hard candy, ash and soil. Mouthfeel is crisp, tiny dry and light to medium bodied. finish is slightly bitter and slightly malty with roasted malts, crispbread, burnt wood, hay and lemon zest.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 22B). AROMA: background sweet and roasted malts from the base beer with coffe and chocolate notes. faint smoke notes with balance towards the base beer. some DMS is present. APPEARANCE: dark with a ruby color tint. average tanned head with good retention. TASTE: roasted coffe-like notes with a touch of pleasant and balanced smokiness. some sweet chocolate notes also present. low bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium-low with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a good marriage between a dark lager and smoked malts, that would benefit with a bit more smokiness.

355ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing, mahagony colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Dark malty aroma, moderate smoky background, a touch of ham and tomato barbecue marinade. Taste is minimally dry hoppy, minimally dark and roasty malty basis, a woody, smoky touch, grilled tomato, a minimally tart touch of tomato juice, subtle sweetness; minimally chocolately and slightly more intense smoky finish. Decent.
