The Red Barn Story
Be it a river, a brook or a stream, there is something so incredibly soothing about the sound of water moving peacefully with the land it cuts through. You stop and watch as fish of all sizes dart in and out from the banks foraging for food. SMACK, a small trout plucks another water bug from the surface causing the rest of the insects lounging in the placid pools to take flight.
A boy, looking very much like you at 10 years old, settles in along the bank near his favorite fishing hole. Dressed in tattered jeans, a checkered shirt and straw hat, he is instantly your own personal Huck Finn. He baits a hook as a worm squirms away not realizing the fate bestowed upon him this day. You watch Huck settle into the grass knowing there is nothing to do but sit and wait. This simple scene confirms in your mind that this is a brook full of life and you set out on the path revealing its edges.
Along the way, a whispering easterly wind begins dancing in harmony with the overgrown grass in a shady grove. Breathing in a ballet of choreographed movement, nature rehearses. The brook rambles along pausing only at a small waterfall. Crystal blue water cascades in a soothing chorus while no one stops to notice the beauty to behold. For too many, this is nothing more than simple farm land.
Off in the distance, a Red Barn hides out content to do nothing more than was asked of it. Another summer day stretches out towards the crisp autumn nights and soon, work will begin on another harvest. The barn relaxes knowing full well that for each and every season, it will remain unmoved- yet touched by everything that nature has to offer. And we’re left to wonder, does anyone notice or even care to stop and appreciate the beauty of the Red Barn?

Bottle at Mondiale ’07
Looks very much like a saison. Nice orange color with LOADS of carbonation bubbles assaulting the beer. Aroma is quite peppery, spicy, and a nice tart sourness to it. Flavour is much of the same, and the pepper really comes through, very nice saison.

Bottle from Beer Republic. Aroma is pleasantly spicy with saison yeast, peppery notes, bready malt, soft fruits, citrus, touch of barnyard funk, apricot, orange, and clove, with a hint of hops in the finish. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is above medium. Well-balanced Saison with lots of spicy notes but not to the point of excess, lovely.

Cork top bottle, 0.75l, shared with Patrick & Bozo. Aroma of bread, pepper, spices, caramel and orange peel. Pours cloudy amber color with rocky off-white head and good retention. Taste starts with medium sweet bread, yeast and ginger, following is peppery and herbal, mouthfeel is mild spicy and dry, while finish is medium bitter. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Reminds me of a red barn district...

Big bottle from Pivoteka. Imported by MAS Plenum, bought by Pivoteka, bought by a person who gave it as a gift to Marko who works for MAS Plenum. Thanks anyway. Hazy golden, small to medium off-white head. Fruity aromas, light spices, banana develops. Light citrus. Bready and yeasty flavours. Light body, light finish.

750 ml bottle, shared by PowY, thanks!
Orange, hazy body, with a massive, stable, frothy, rocky, lacing, off-white head.
Aroma of bread, dough, vanilla, sweet spices, sweet grains, flowers.
Tastes of spices, some ginger, bread, dough, hay, flowers, some vanilla.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a fizzy carbonation.
Finishes spicy, dry, grainy, yeasty, a bit fruity, subtly sweet.
Very nice. I really like the lovely, smooth nose, taste is more on the dry, spicy side. Ginger isn't too prominent, just provides some more spiciness. Very good, old-school Saison.
