This beer is not candy or mother’s milk. It is not brewed by gypsies or aliens, nor does it contain any zombie dirt. This is an American Style IPA brewed with Citra Hops. It is citrusy, sticky, hoppy and delicious. Simply drink it and enjoy it. Don’t hoard this beer, Citra Ass Down and drink it now.
(Online description:) This is a very hop forward American style IPA. Brewed with Pale, Vienna, Munich and wheat malt for a solid base for all American hops, focusing mainly on the variety “Citra.” Citra hops are a relatively new variety introduced in 2008. It was bred as a hybrid of a number of different hops, including Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, U.S. Tettnanger, East Kent Golding, Bavarian, Brewers Gold, and other unknown hops. The resulting hop, Citra, has a distinct citrusy and tropical fruit flavor and aroma. In Citra ass down we used American Columbus for bittering and 11# of Citra at the end of the boil for late kettle addition flavor and aroma. Then we added 6 more pounds Citra and 5# Centennial post fermention for aroma. Rebrewed for your tasting pleasure!

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is citrus hops, and there be many of those. Taste is fruity, but not excessively bitter. Very nice fruity tastes though. This is very manageable for a double IPA, but it still retains the intense flavor profile.

Hazy orange - gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is minerally crisp and dry. Very light malt cream. Fabulous Citra hops - fresh orange, orange pith, little marmalade, all in great balance. Touches of hop spice and grapefruit. Crispy finish. Marmalade bitter linger. Super drinkable.

22 oz. bottle purchased at 7-11 Kittery, ME. Slightly hazy gold color some head retention in the tulip glass. Aroma of citrus, mango, melons and tropical fruit. Jeez I love this hop variety!
Flavor is mandarin orange, grapefruit peel, melon and tropical fruit. Bitterness lingers slightly after the sip. Light floral notes and grass come in as the brew warms. Malt base provides a good base so it doesn’t become a bitter hop bomb. Bready malt has a medium in body with a juicy hop finish that does not linger. Overall the bottle was a bit on the pricy side and although it is good I feel I over spent for the bottle. I did enjoy drinking it but at the price point it will not be a repeat buy.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of big juicy citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate caramel/bready malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate caramel/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky/creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate caramel/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a golden amber yellow with mid-sized head. Aroma of citrus, must, sharp hops. Flavor is very sharp, with bitter hops at the forefront. Some citrus notes, some metallic notes, a very slight touch of sweetness. Bitter finish. Could be a bit more balanced?
