Brewed with Pale, Vienna, Munich and wheat malt for a solid base for all American hops, focusing mainly on the variety “Citra.” Citra hops are a relatively new variety introduced in 2008. It was bred as a hybrid of a number of different hops, including Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, U.S. Tettnanger, East Kent Golding, Bavarian, Brewers Gold, and other unknown hops. The resulting hop, Citra, has a distinct citrusy and tropical fruit flavor and aroma. In Citra ass down we used American Columbus for bittering and 11# of Citra at the end of the boil for late kettle addition flavor and aroma. Then we added 6 more pounds Citra and 5# Centennial post fermention for aroma. Rebrewed for your tasting pleasure!

Clear orange beer, big solid creamy yellowish head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit soapy, citrus, bit fruity, sweet some caramel malts. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet malty start, some citrus, tropical fruits, bit sugary, pineapple. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, tropical fruits, bit sugary.

Malty, today this would be almost a Barley Wine, it’s also quite sweet; the hops have a strong orange character.
2017-05-24, draught at Darby’s Gastown, Vancouver; 8% ABV; 16oz, 7-3-8-3-15=36
Hazy amber color, creamy head. Malty body, not a modern IIPA, but not as chewy as the old ones; quite sweet; the hop has a strong orange character, moderately resiny, not even too strong; I don’t perceive the dankness promised by the bar guru; traces of butter instead (some people may dislike that).
Solid, good, aging style.

Weich hopfiger Antrunk. Getreidiger, hell malziger Mittelteil, Grasnoten, geringe Herbe, trocken. Noten von Alkohol, wenn auch nur kurzzeitig. Okay. 10/10/9/9//9

Nice, very hazy copper and bronze glow with a thin, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pungent and biting grassy and very herbal hops - doesn’t smell like Citra to me, plus there is a big malt vibe and some sweetness noticeable as well. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal flavours with some caramel and rich toffee notes, some lighter malts and a touch of pine at the end - no real citrus or citra notes to speak of, plus a very simple profile and a less than bitter note make this very passable. Aftertaste is fairly weak, with the malt and touch of hops around, with no real complexity or pungency. Overall, a decent beer at best, and another overblown Imperial IPA that is rated highly just because of their label. I sampled this pint (sixteen ounce) can purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 15-November-2016 for US$3,31 sampled at home in Washington on 26-April-2017.

Pint can. Orangé, col épais et crémeux blanc-cassé. Arôme au bouquet fruité, agrumes, qcq notes de résineux avec un léger rétro malté de caramel. Palais est malté, cara pâle, houblonné, petite amertume virant sur les agrumes - pamplemousse, bien fruité, raisin blanc, collant aux lèvres et sirupeux sur la fin.

Weirdo IPA for a diehard hop patriot, since all those Brit and Noble hops give this pint an unmistakable pungent Euro twist. Herbal and floral yet surprisingly grainy, with a heavy dose of biscuit and toast offsetting a mild caramel sweetness. Citrus undertones throughout, and a orange-grapefruit finish leads to a bitter, floral, European fade. Thick feel accentuates the Imperial leanings. Needs a better nose, but otherwise makes for a solid DIPA.

Can 1 pint. Pours amber with tiny floating impurities and a small, white head. Very interesting and delicious hop aroma - perfumy and spicy. Rich malty body, caramellish, very fruity, some late bitterness. Perhaps a little old school and not super fresh, but still very enjoyable. 020317

473 ml can, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 8.2%. Hazy golden to orange colour, small white head. Aroma of fresh and mixed citrus fruits, also some stale orange marmalade in the background. The flavour is sweet, fruity, alcoholic, unrefined, very bitter and unbalanced. Still not undrinkable.
