650ml Bomber.
Jet black, viscous oily pour. One of the darkest, thickest pours I’ve seen. Big bitter cocoa nib Aroma, lots of cocoa powder, and dark chocolate. Hints of soy, with more hints of vanilla, and yes.... Hints if hazelnut. All together, it’s very impressive. Oily, thick, viscous mouth feel, soft carb. The finish is medium bitter, with a symphony of hazelnut, all around nuttiness, vanilla pod, and bitter cocoa power with hints of soy, and dark, dark fruit. Really really nice sipper.

One of Westbrook's anniversary beers, a stout aged on cocoa, hazelnuts and vanilla; draught at Struise's shop in Bruges. Thick, cobweb-lacing, dense, brownish-tinged beige, stable head, jet black robe. Aroma of hazelnut paste, cocoa powder, chocolate milk even, cappuccino, toasted bread, mocha ice cream, whisky, some vanilla but not overly strong. Sweet onset with sourish edges, raisins, candied dates, thick and oily, bit powdery mouthfeel, softish carbo. Very strong hazelnuttiness from the beginning, a thick layer of hazelnut paste overseeing 'naturally' nutty, toffeeish and chocolatey maltiness, sweet with a softly bittering coffeeish roasted finish; cocoa comes through in the end, vanilla much less so. The hazelnut effect lingers alongside a spicy hop note, soft roastedness and long, warming, rum-like alcohol. Very pleasant dessert stout - as always with Westbrook.

Keg at Hop Locker III - London. Pours oily black with a thick, creamy tan head. Moderate roast in the nose, some burnt biscuits, cocoa, a little oxidation. Medium to big sweet flavour, with notes of burnt nuts, bitter chocolate, more well roasted malts, earth. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes with mellow warmth, some baking cocoa, more charred nuts, dried berries, hints of leather. Decent overall.

Keg at HL3, 27/07/17. Pitch black with a solid tan cap. Nose is bitter roast, spice, charr, toffee, cocoa nibs, liquorice. Taste comprises charr, toffee, dark fruits, leather, vanilla, chocolate, black peppery spice. Full bodied, fine to light oily feel, warming boost in the close. Decent well balanced impy ... not one of those runway sweet numbers!
