500ml bottle from Beer-city

Pours gusher, dark brown with a foamy white head. Aroma of wood, dark ripe berries, fruits, spices and oaky vanilla notes. Taste is vinous, sweet, oaky, woody and sour with hints of tart berries, spices and vanilla. Finish is sweet and vinous, complex and heavy with wooden notes, hints of tart ripe berries and oaky vanilla. Quite complex, a bit unbalanced though.

Draught@SBWF2013. Deep amber colour, small head. Aroma is ripe fruits, alcohol, some spices and a lot of everything. Flavour is quite much the same with some nice wooden notes. Balanced.

Draught at SBWF. Hazy mahogany colour, mid sized head. Mild vinous tart nose. Near full bodied with well rounded mouthfeel. Acetic with some white pepper. Lemon, wood and red wine dominates. Lovely beer, but the Reserva is even better.

On tap at Stumbling Monk, pours an opaque dark mahogany with a large beige head. Aroma brings out dark soured fruits, some vinegar, and some oak barrels. Flavour is supremely complex, with loads of soured dark fruits, moderate vinegar, oak, and subtle vanilla notes. Amazingly well-balanced, with a perfect sourness, woodiness and oakiness.

Very dark red - brown beer. Short lived pale tan head. Palate is dry and crisp. Sour, but not overly so. It’s notably Flanders Red sour, the tangy red wine barrel adds to it but it’s then rounded off by the oak and mildly sweet bourbon. Well buried chocolate. Dry finish. Somehow isn’t quite as good as it looks on paper but certainly tasty.

Awesome beer. Lots of sour apricot, plum and some booze. Pours dark brown with only a little initial head or lacing. Light sour finish. Comes together super well. On tap at Ebenezer Kezar’s.

500ml bottle shared at home. Dark brown pour, thick creamy head. Very interesting nose, definitely some of the barrel there, but also dark red fruits, yeast funk and spice. Tastes astonishing. A riot of sweet, sour and spice. Good carbonation and long finish. Wow.

500ml bottle [Thanx David!]. Dark chestnut colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, ochre head. Fruity, spicy, yeasty and tart aroma with hints of grapes, berries, nutmeg, a cautious touch of soy sauce, vanilla. Taste is tart fruity, hints of dark berries, grapes, balsamico, a dry touch of fruit parings; fine pore carbonation.
