10/01/2013 330ml bottle. Stappata alla Tana con Dario. Nera, impenetrabile, densa, schiuma cappuccino leggera, abbastanza persistente. Al naso vaniglia e cioccolato, una nota di torbato, un po’ stucchevole. In bocca conferma le stesse sensazioni, è dolce, vanigliata e cioccolatosa, decisamente stucchevole fin dai primi sorsi. Corpo medio-pieno, carbonazione media. Interessante, ma troppo sgraziata.

30/XII/12 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - bottled: 28/VIII/12 (2012-1436)

Very dark brown beer, small irregular beige to brown head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: dusty, mocha, some coffee, some dried fruits, caramel, bit woody, earthy, dark chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty sourish start, mocha, lots of coffee, cocoa powder, caramel, more sourness, smoky touch. Aftertaste: sourish, smoky, caramel, bitter, coffee, hoppy ending, alcohol, pretty boozy. Nevertheless a pretty good beer!

05/12 0.33 l bottle @Animal, Madrid, shared with teddybeer. It poured pitch black body with a tiny head. Excellent toffee, chocolate, wood and coffee aroma, I would rate it perfect for the style. Flavor was lightly sweet, also bitter, coffee and chocolate were dominating with strong bourbon note that somehow added to sweetness from one side, while it emphasized alcohol presence on the same time. Quite complex with fruits, some spices like licorice and touch of smoked malts. Medium bodied, creamy and with very long, a bit strong alcoholic/booze finish. Chocolate and coffee were still dominating here. Although a bit straightforward, it was an excellent Imperial stout, wonderful crown for the end of uncommon beer night at bar Animal.

Almost no head; black beer. Rich, vinous to spirit nose. Difficult to say what barrel, but Bourbon seems most obvious. Whatever, good; suggesting sweetness, (red) fruity. Very intense alcoholic, hint at higher alcohols. Sweet-alcoholic; again vinous, and vanilla flavour from the Bourbon, acquiring a pineapple flavour warming up. Fresh oakwood. Oozing strength and ethanol - lined with pitch. Spritzy MF. despite no visual carbonation. Menno - repent. Sodom & Gomorra will be repeated with the elected drinking this stuff. Anyway - DON’T LOOK BACK!

33 cl bottle (11,9%) @ Timo A. Bottled 28.08.2012
Aroma has whisky and woody notes, some licorice and some vanilla. Flavour has very stinginging whisky notes, woody notes, some vanilla and licorice. Tar and smoky notes too. The whisky is too strong here, but not bad still.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam, bottled 28 August 2012
The bottle is filled till under the cap; the pour is flat, there is virtually no head, just a few sparse brown bubbles. The aroma is mild, with nice chocolate, and a trace of leather and tobacco. Full bodied; the mouthfeel is a bit oily because of the lack of carbonation; excellent chocolate flavor, with light tobacco, light vanilla/wood, and very light distillate from the barrels; sweet.
Excellent.

Borefts Beer Festival IV. Day 1. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Lactose sweet malt. Smooth bourbon with mild vanilla and wood. Finishes semi dry. Nice BA beer.

11th September 2015
Bottle. Quite tangy now with an overall darker character. Spicy wood and tangy fruity whiskey. Has lost a lot of it’s sweetness, still as good though.
