The gnomes of Fairyland are particularly fond of this golden beer. LA CHOUFFE, with its slight hoppy taste, combining notes of fresh coriander and fruity tones, is the drink which gives them their zest for life. At least, that's what these imps say when they are thirsty. Their secret used to be jealously guarded from one generation to the next until the day they shared the recipe with humans to seal their friendship. Of all the legends from the wonderful region of the Belgian Ardennes, the tale of LA CHOUFFE is the one which most merits re-telling.

Color dorado, ligeramente turbia y buena carbonation.

330ml bottle. Tan body, creamy steady white head. Big coriander note, sort of drinks like an Imperial Wit in some ways...minus the wheat. Full bodied but well attenuated, clean. Nice bright champagne carbonation. Good.

Bottle, Big Chouffe 2019 edition. Color: Clear golden, white head. Aroma: Malty, yeasty, sugary. Taste: Medium sweet, white sugar, yeasty notes. Starting malty, going to more hoppy towards and at the finish. Over moderate hopbitterness at finish. Hints of stone fruit. Just above medium body, average carbonation. Claasic Belgium Golden Ale, I've had this one quite a lot, long time ago before my Ratebeer time, still pretty nice.

On tap at Curious Gnome, Chester Pours a cloudy pumpkin orange with a frothy white head. Nose is well laden with those traditional stalwarts bananas and bubblegum. Bananas are the mainstay in the mouth, together with pears, pine and hints of peppers and honey. Finish is bitter but fruity. A classic !

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Wine Rack, West Byfleet. Have a soft spit for this one.
