Bottle Thanks to Inflatablehair Pours out black topped with a tan head. Aroma was very nice rich malts, sweet chocolate, coffee, and some light hop notes. Taste was the same as the aroma very well balanced with great sweetness and light bitterness. I also picked up a lot of honey on this.

Location: Bottle at Max and Andy's Fantasy Tasting, 5/1/10
Aroma: The nose has lots of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, wood, and some booze
Appearance: The pour is basically pitch black with a medium brown head
Flavor: The taste is rather rich with a big roasted malt flavor and some bitterness in the finish
Palate: The mouthfeel is thick and oily with a very full bodied feel and a long, slightly boozy finish
Overall Impression: This is a pretty big beer. It has a huge roasted feel to it. I think this makes for a pretty good beer, it might be a little too big, but that is just a small complaint, as it is certainly good stuff.

750 mL bottle, from the latest release I assume. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin head. Aroma is very dark roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, plum, berries and grapes. Taste is dark roasted malts, caramel, toffee, chocolate, tobacco and leafy hops. Medium-full bodied and somewhat chewy. Smooth and lightly carbonated. Damn good beer.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt as well as some soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and alcohol, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Black color; creamy brownish head. The aroma is an interesting mix of ashes and chocolate, cardboard and caramel, harmonious. Good body strength; the mouthfeel is quite smooth; the chocolate aroma dominates, compunded first by the roasted malt, followed by dark caramel, and some residual sweetness; good bitterness level. Not a surprising beer, but well brewed.
