La Folie, French for "the folly," is a beer steeped in New Belgium brewing tradition. This wood-aged, sour brown spends one to three years in big oak barrels known as foeders. And when the beer finally hits the glass, La Folie is sharp and sour, full of green apple, cherry, and plum-skin notes. Pouring a deep mahogany, the mouthfeel will get you puckering while the smooth finish will get you smiling. Not a beer for the timid, La Folie is a sour delight that will turn your tongue on its head. Find out why it's considered one of the best sour beers around.

Great barrel notes and bourbon-like qualities without being overly boozy.

(Bottle) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, slightly sourish nose with cherries, caramel, oak wood, citrus, brown sugar, vanilla and a touch of balsamic vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with notes of caramel, balsamic vinegar, oak wood, green apples, citrus, chocolate, sour cherries, blackberries and a finish with a fresh acidity and low bitterness. Medium body, mainly dry. Really tasty and well balanced, with a fresh acidity and well rounded mouthfeel. Excellent beer.

Keg at BeaverFest. Vague vinous aroma. Amber Thin beige head.. Supe sour. Thin. Slick. Average carbonation. Astringent finish. My notes were brief but I scored it 4.5 so must have been impressed!

Flaska från SB. Vintage 2017.
