28/11 On tap @Cimmeria, Oviedo. My notes said Kapittel Dubbel, 6% ABV. So, it poured clear copper body with medium sized head. Weak, slightly caramel and vinous aroma. Flavor was sweet, too cloying, caramel, sugar, some fruits. Medium to fuller in body with moderate sweet finish. Not really bad, but just another boring dubbel that lacks any form of character or complexity, plus it was too sweet for my taste.

Aroma is somewhat sweet with brown sugar and roasted malt. Flavour is sweetish with brown sugar, some raisins, caramel and roasted malt. Your typical dubbel.

(Bottle, Delirium Monasterium, Brussels, 21 July 2012) Reddish brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty nose with dark bread, caramel and hints of dried fruit. Malty, spicy taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, crisp-bread, a touch of brown sugar and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Nice one.

Farely sweet with notes of flowers and fruit. Somewhat yeasty flavor. Dark brown in color with a white head.

Clear red brown beer, big irregular head, little stable, adhesive, nice lacing. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, raisins, oranges, caramel, subtle spices. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: little sweet, caramel, dried fruits, chocolate, dried orange peel, little bitter. Aftertaste: some cardboard, orange peel, some spices, little bitter in the end, raisins. Should try a bottle a bit fresher, the 6% doesn't keep more than 1.5 years past date.

Biggish beige head. Clear reddish brown body. Light licorice and flour aroma with herbal notes. Dry-sweet burnt caramelly taste with earthy soy sauce notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish roasty fruity aftertaste with spicy floral notes. Quite nice, but low on flavour. More flavour as the beer heats up, not no new flavours revealed. (0.3l draft at Belge, Helsinki.)

(Draught at Belge, 20120503) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had caramell, grass and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sugary sweetness, malts, grass, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Too thin and sweet to be really good.

330 ml bottle into chalice, best by 5/2013. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a nice 2-3 finger billowing light khaki head with fantastic retention that reduces to a thick cap that lasts forever. Some nice soapy lacing on the glass; with a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of raisin, plum, cherry, caramel, molasses, herbal, candi sugar, biscuit, earth, and yeast spices. Some nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of plum, raisin, molasses, caramel, biscuit, herbal, candi sugar, yeast spices, and a bit of a metallic flavor; but it isn’t too bad. Lingering notes of dark fruit, herbal, molasses, biscuit, and yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Good flavor balance and complexity. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly creamy and very smooth mouthfeel. Very easy to drink. Alcohol is hidden well with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is a very enjoyable Belgian dark ale. I would not mind having it again sometime.

Bottle. Dark amber/brown with medium tan head. Aroma is malt, yeast, fruit and caramel. Flavour is malt, yeast, little metallic, little dried fruits, caramel, medium sweet and a littler toffee.
