3/I/13 - 75cl bottle @ De Hopduvel - 2011 vintage - bottle #461/484 (2013-3) Huge thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!
Clear dark brown beer, no head. Aroma: lots of caramel, vanilla, mocha, dried fruits, more vanilla, bit sugary, some alcohol. Very intense aroma. MF: no carbon, full body. Taste: lots of caramel, vanilla, chocolate milk, more vanilla, dark caramel, fudge, sugary, pretty acidic touch (or is that the alcohol?). Aftertaste: lots of chocolate, vanilla, pretty boozy, alcohol warming the throat, brown sugar, caramel, rum raisins, bit earthy. Not as overly sweet as most of the other versions, bit boozy but not too much.

Pappy Van Winkle Barrel Aged 2011 bottle thanks to someone at Woodshop 6! Glad to finally try this. Pitch black pour, glass coating, with a small tan head that fades. Really viscous stuff! Huge, rich bourbon aroma, coconut, vanilla, brown sugar, maple. A bit of an alcohol tinge. Light dark fruits, tons of chocolate. Flavors are also amazing. Coconut, vanilla, bourbon, cotton candi, brown sugar, chocolate and alcohol. Decadent. Boozy, warming, viscous with low carbonation. A real treat! Quite a bit better than the regular last two releases of Dark Lord. Very solid.
