Bottle. Black color with beige head. Aroma is coffee, hot dark chocolate. Taste is the same, quite rich, but also feels quite light. Fine-bubbled carbonation. Very nice!

deep dark brown colour, minimal creamy brown head; aroma of heavy roasted coffee, toasted rye bread, some liqueur and smokey notes as well as dried berries; taste of coffee, burnt toast, dark chocolate, smokey notes, ash and some minimal sourness; although it is not among the best imperial stouts, it is really good

Heavy stout from (yet) another new Dutch beer company, brewing at Ramses. Densely structured, creamy and cappuccino-like, yellowish beige head, irregularly shaped, over a black beer with translucent mahogany brown edges. Aroma of cold black coffee, fondant chocolate, nut shells, wet leather, bayleaf, beef stock cubes, dried fig, salmiak, burnt toast, toffee, dried banana, whisky, dry tree leaves, chicory, mocha ice cream, candi sugar, raisin, dried mushroom. Sweetish onset, candied fig, dried banana, raisin, but in all still fairly clean, with a pleasant umami edge and the expected underlying sourishness for balance; soft carbo, full and lightly oily, smooth body. Dried fruit flavors continue over a deep multi-layered, very nutty, toasted and lightly chocolatey malt body gaining a roasted bitterness in the end, but gently so. Finish adds peppery and leafy hop bitterness as well as bourbon-like, warming alcohol, well placed and not obnoxious at all. Long spicy ’bittersweetness’ lingers after swallowing, with a delicate, aromatic coffee-like flavor accompanying it. Full-bodied, well-balanced and very enjoyable stout, technically flawless, perhaps lacking a bit in personality considering the overload of imperial stouts the contemporary craft beer world is producing, but by all means very well made. Looking forward to try the BA version!
