La birra trappista viene prodotta dai monaci dell’Abbazia delle Tre Fontane a Roma. È una birra ad alta fermentazione prodotta con una ricetta esclusiva che si avvale della sapienza secolare dei monaci, ma rinvenuta fortunosamente in tempi recenti. È una birra color oro intenso dal sapore incisivo e fruttato con l’eucaliptus – piantato dai monaci per bonificare la zona circostante l’abbazia – che stringe le note fruttate portandole a sé.Per affinare la qualità della birra sono trascorsi alcuni anni, ma nel 2015 le è stato finalmente attribuito il marchio ATP (Authentic Trappist Product), l’undicesimo assegnato nel mondo.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours fairly hazy, amber, with limited white foam, very fine. Aroma is fruity, a little caramel and a small hint of balsamic from eucalyptus. Body is average, with good carbonation. Taste is medium-high sweet. Final has a thin hint of balsamic.

Bottle from tosano. Orange color bubbly white head, fading, intense carbonation in the bottle. Smell is a bit pungent, spiced. Aroma is spiced, eucalyptus, herbs, mint. Moderate tripel bready malts, softer as it warms up. Sugars, bitter orange, bitter herbs. Strong abv, medium body, complex taste.

Ginger, caramel, apple nose. Cloudy amber, medium head. Caramel, pear, ginger. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Interesting, but where in the heck is the ginger coming from?

Bottle, found in Enschede. Golden color, floral citric, slightly perfumed aroma. Malty floral flavor with ginger and sweet marmelade. Some very soft herbal notes, probably caused by the eucalyptus. A soft floral bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite drinkable, but quality-wise in no way comparable with the great Belgian monastery beers.

Bottled at Waza, Stockholm. amber, small head. Huge minty aroma with eukalypthus and honey. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Honey and eukalypthus. Sweet bread. Low bitterness.

330ml Bottle - Dark golden in colour. Herbal and yeasty aroma. The taste is yeasty with notes of sultanas, peach, yoghurt, caramel and herbs.
