Baiza Chocolate Mint Stout 5.5% cask at Clerkenwell. Pitch black with the perfect mint chocolate aroma which reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. The smooth creamy body accentuates this feeling while the taste delivers what the nose promised: mint chocolate goodness. Wonderful.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thin off-white creamy head. Has plenty of mint choc-chip in both its aroma and taste. It’s pretty much the liquid version of the ice cream it is that stated!

Cask. Hallamshire House, Sheffield. Very dark brown. Bubbly, thick, tan head. Dark, roast malts. Fresh mint. Spearmint. Hint of coffee grinds. Taste is mostly sweet. Some dry. Some roast bitter. Bit of treacle. Full, chewy palate. Finishes light bitter. A lot less minty than it used to be, I’m sure. And better for it.

Cask @ Sheffield Tap. Pours pitch black with beige head. Smooth mint chocolate ice cream, well-blended and not too dominant, alongside roasted malts and dark chocolate shavings. Very nice indeed. Wish I had a slice of Vienetta to go with this!

Cask at DaDa. It pours darkest brown (nr black) with a medium beige head. The nose is chocolate, mint, mint matchmakers and light roast. The taste is bitter-sweet, mint choc chip ice-cream, After Eight mints, roasted malt, cocoa, earth and faint liquorice with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Rather tasty! The balance is spot on, very well balanced indeed (i.e. not too sweet).
