Appearance- very dark ruby almost black, hardly any head. Aroma- chocolate and mint, dark malts, coffee traces. Taste- lots of mint chocolate, leathery malt, smoky traces, dark roasty malt, bitter ashy finish. Intriguing, a bit artificial.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 22/4/2016. Near black, with a decent, off-white, head. Plain chocolate, roasted malts and some slightly jarring ’After Eight’ mint character in the finish. Fine.

Sampled from cask @ Thornbridge Pub Den Bosch. Dark brown to black color, small brown head. Smell and taste are indeed mint, pretty watery and thin with slight stout hints. Don’t like it, not my thing at all.

Cask at the Hare and Billet, Blackheath. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Mint chocolate matchmakers aroma and taste- which is no bad thing as I like mint chocolate matchmakers. Nice combination, works very well.

Cask at Craft Clerkenwell, Leather Lane, London, Friday 18th December 2015 Pours dark brown edging towards but not quite black. The chocolate and mint combine really well, not quite mint choc’ chip well, but beery well. Smooth, mint more noticeable on the nose than in the mouth but a little creamy milk chocolate. It’s good.A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov15 3.6
