An easy drinking and refreshing IPA. Fresh dry hop, herbal character is provided by the mix of Challenger and First Gold hops. The use of crystal malt in the grist gives a satisfying toffee/caramel note and the addition of a little black malt adds just enough astringency to give a clean, dry finish.

Malts: Pale, crystal and black malt.
Hops: Challenger, Pilgrim and First Gold.

Cask at Ryries Bar, Edinburgh. Pours amber with a decent head and no bubbles. The nose has toffee and malt - canโ€™t detect much in the way of hops. The taste has toffee and malt. The palate is medium in structure and texture with an overhanging malt finish that just doesnโ€™t refresh at all. Overall, this is too malty for IPA and where are the hops?

Cask @ The Crown Rivers, Heathrow Airport, London

Pours brownish orange, murky with a foamy head. Aroma is quite mild with notes of fruits. Taste is soft and has hints of banana and malts. Smooth, slightly bitter finish. Not very balanced and doesnโ€™t really taste like an IPA.

On tap, pours clear bronze. Aroma and flavour of bitter hops and English malts with slightly stale woody notes. Not too good.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bland beer - watery and without much depth of flavour. An anti IPA? Offensively bland.

Clear brown, slight white head. No distinctive aroma, perhaps seaweed. Light body and carbonation. Flavour is light and well balanced - malt, fruit, spice with some bitterness in the finish. Good easy drinking quaffing beer, perhaps a bit thin.

Cask at the Bird in Hand, Wordsley. Pours dark amber with a medium head. Aroma was faint grassy hops and some slightly fruity malt. Had a bland start and then some watery hops on the finish. OK for its strength.

Cask. Pours a clear warm amber with an off-white lacing head. Lightly nutty aroma. Thin and watery body, flattish, vague accents of toffee and nuts. Again a little moldy. Dry finish but not overly hoppy. 160110

Cask. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Light hop aroma. Malt and light floral hop flavor. Medium bodied. Malt and light hops (floral, earthy) linger. A bit too smooth.
