  Bock - Doppelbock Regular
Score
7.54
ABV: 6.9% IBU: - Ticks: 247
One of the two beers brewed at the monastery (the other one is the Barock Dunkel). The Weltenburger Asam Bock owes its name to the brilliant, baroque painter and master builder Cosmas Damian Asam. The malt-emphasized goat exudes light roasted aromas that give a hint of coffee. Friends and connoisseurs particularly appreciate it for its strong, sweet, very aromatic and persistent taste. With its 6.9% alcohol content, it is the strongest barley juice from the Weltenburg family.

Die Duitsers weten wel hoe ze een mooie subtiele en smaakvolle bock moeten maken, zo ook deze. Chocolade, geroosterde mouten, toffee, wat alcohol, smooth, noten, zoethout, gewoon prima

Tight creamy beige head stayed on a rich mahogany coloured still body. Huge malt aroma with chocolate. Medium to full bodied, slightly tingly on the front with grey back. Malt, demerara, spices, berries, cocoa & syrup tastes with lightly hopped fruity finish. Excellent

Gott

# 1152; 7/2018. Chuťove velmi bohaté pivo. Silně pražené s lehce nakyslým ocáskem, který mi připomněl darjeelingy. Kávové, sušené ovoce. Parádní dlouhé doznívání.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a very dark mahogany colour with a fast dissipating beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, dry dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, coffee, cherries, brown bread and brown sugar. Taste is the same notes as the aroma and very full flavoured. Full bodied with a lovely thick oily lip smacking mouthfeel. Long dark fruity and sweet finish. Very moreish for the strength. One of my favourite bocks. Great beer. Delicious!

Dunkler Doppelbock mit 6,9 % Alk und 18,2 % Stammwürze. Sehr dunkle Farbe (mit leichtem Rotstich), wenig, recht dunkler Schaum. Geruch erinnert an Traubensaft. Geschmacklich findet man ebenfalls Traubensaft. Viel Malz, leicht röstige Noten (Kaffee, Kakao). Süß, leicht herb, süffig. Gut. Bei „Asam“ denke ich an schwarzen Tee (schreibt man aber anders). Das Bier ist benannt nach Cosmas Damian Asam einem Maler und Architekt des Spätbarocks, der auch für das Kloster Weltenburg tätig war.

Buttery roasted malt aroma. Full bodied, almost fat. Laurel and roasted malt in the flavor. Very malty, sweet, but enough other flavors to compensate. Lovely bock beer with enough finesse and complexity for added quality. The rating is well earned.
