One of the two beers brewed at the monastery (the other one is the Barock Dunkel). The Weltenburger Asam Bock owes its name to the brilliant, baroque painter and master builder Cosmas Damian Asam. The malt-emphasized goat exudes light roasted aromas that give a hint of coffee. Friends and connoisseurs particularly appreciate it for its strong, sweet, very aromatic and persistent taste. With its 6.9% alcohol content, it is the strongest barley juice from the Weltenburg family.

Quelle bière savoureuse ;-) C'est un peu plus fumé (et tourbeux) que les Doppelbocks habituels que je bois, mais je la recommande fortement.

Pretty epic bock—close enough to a doppelbock—with massive layers of caramel and toffee underlined by candy apple and hints of banana, finished off by pumpernickel bread, flowers, and cocoa. Lingering traces of date, yeast, and brown sugar. Creamy texture leads to a fast-emptying pint. Great.

Bottle at bar grumo. Mahogany color with a ruby shine and a big sticky beige head. Aroma is caramel malts, dark bread, old wood, hints of licorice. Solid body and malty bready, soft carbonation thick texture oily finish. Mild alcoholic fairly strong. Noble.

Bottle from an Edeka in Rothenburg. Pours hazy dark brown with a dissipating, foamy, off-white head. Enticing aroma of stewed plum, prune, caramel, pear syrup, jam, dough, candied banana, toast, chocolate, very faint iron. Taste is medium to heavy fruity sweet, lots of plum, yeasty banana, jam, some cake; never cloying and balanced by a light herbal bitterness, tea-like, faint spicy cookie; sourish prune & raisin in the back. Malty finish, faint herbal hops, spicy licorice & lingering plum. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. This is a 'liquid cake', so flavourful.

Brown with dark off white head - Good malt aroma with some caramel notes - Good malt body with a nice caramel flavour and some roasted notes with nice hops to balance with bitterness - The malt with caramel and some hints of rosted malt with some bitterness in the back - This was real good

Bottle shared with JMD on board Fridtjofen 09.07.18. Dark mahogany. Dense and persistent beige head and lacing. Aroma of dark malt, dried berries, toasted nuts and sawdust. Taste of dried red berries, dates, dark malt and syrup. Medium bitterness is balancing the sweetness. Very good.
