Pint in DC is a translucent brown with some sudsy tan head. Nose has toast and malt and a little char, pine is big too. Flavor has pine and soap and citrus peel, malt is dry and very earthy, over toasted bread, coffee grounds. Almost full bodied, roasty, dry, bitter.

Nice to have a different option on the OH menu. Lightly roasty, malt-forward

First rating of 2017! Draft at N4, Whole Foods Williamsburg. Dark brown with a small head. Some sticky lacework. Roasted malt, chocolate, and lots of hop bitterness. Dry, roasty flavor. Clean feel. Drinks crisp, with a long, dry close.

Keg at the Proletariat, Manhattan. Very dark brown with a thin ring of khaki head. Smells wonderful: there’s bucket loads of coffee, malt, pine resin and lime peel. Classic BIPA aroma, but marked up a couple of notches. Taste profile is governed by the bitterness of the roast - almost burnt - malt notes, but sticky, piney hop is detectable too. Long bittersweet finish with a touch of liquorice and citrus. Fully carbonated, which works for this beer. Super stuff.

Draught @ Ginger Man. Clear dark brown with reddish tint, large creamy beige head, caramel-citrus aroma, low carbonation, caramel taste mixed with piney hoppy bitterness, smooth mouthfeel, long bitter caramel finish. Great combination of a brown ale and an IPA.

Draft at Other Half. It pours black with a small beige head. The nose is burnt pine, earthy, good roast, coffee, citrus, permanent marker pen and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter, rich roast, charred pine, grapefruit peel, toasted grass, dark chocolate with a lingering dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent cda.
