The call from fall. Wilhelm Scream is ripe with fall flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel malts. Medium-bodied and the color of orange setting suns, it finishes similar to the way we finish summer: with just a hint of bitterness.

On tap at bowsers and they offered me some bullshit sugar on the rim but I blew that off. Slight spice aroma, not overdone on the nose. Almost dunkel lookin thing. Taste is spiced, but acceptable over all, yes not in yer face like so many spiced punky holiday beers. Overall one of the spiced beers that I found easy to take.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 12ounce ($2): Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is nutmeg, cinnamon, and caramel malts (surprise!). Taste is much the same. It looks like Magic Hat has stopped trying to come up with anything new and innovative and just made the same pumpkin ale as everyone else.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber. White head. Nose/taste of faux pumpkin, caramel malt and spice. Lighter bodied. Touch metallic.

Bottle. Light cinnamon, nutmeg and toffee malt aroma. Dark amber with nice head. Sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin malt and lightly bitter hay flavor. Nice pumpkin ale.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a Saturday night. This is a decent pumpkin ale, same pumpkin/cinnamon notes you’d find in many other varieties, this one has a little more of a malt and enhanced pumpkin backing. Overall good and enjoyable, great for fall.

Drought. Dark amber-copper with large spongy beige head, pumpkin aroma, low carbonation, tasting of pumpkin and cinnamon, abrupt finish. Another autumn seasonal, bit quite fine.

Pours bright deep gold into a shaker. White head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Cinnamon and nutmeg aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and pumpkin upfront turning to nutmeg in the lasting finish. Not bad.

Pour is a clear orange with a very small head. Aroma is of some slight spice. Flavor is more of a minor spice and a bit of sourness. Finish has some sweet sticky malt. Not much of a spice or pumpkin profile shows up. This was pretty weak and watery all around.
