A strong, citrus, zingy ale. Deceptively light in colour with zesty taste and a lingering hop finish. A well known and respected strong ale.
The Bishop’s Tipple is brewed from 94% low colour malt from Optic barley and 6% cane sugar. Bitterness units of 38-42 are obtained from substantial quantities of Saaz and Styrian Goldings hops. One third of these are reserved for the hopback plates for enhanced flavour and aroma.

Sampled @ GBBF Day 2. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, a hint of apple peel, bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Meh.

Bottle from Whistlestop, London. Clear dark golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, fruity and moderate hoppy - grass. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 260316

Cask @ Grey Horse Inn, Manchester. Amber with a creamy head. Smoothish tasting with an extremely light, and slightly sugary fruitiness.

Cask at the Bank Statement, Swansea. Pours golden yellow with almost no head. Malty fruity aroma. Malty caramel flavor with hint of bitterness.

Cask@Charlies Bar, CPH - amber/gold pour with a good off-white head. Sweet malty and fruity little number, caramel, toffee, slight hoppy, grass, and some floral nuance. Ok.
