This is one of those beers that come out of experience, wanting and necessity. A few years back we did a barley wine called Bring It On. It was blended to one tenth barrel aged imperial stout and it was really good. So, we knew that blend worked and we’ve wanted to do it again. A few months back we emptied some cognac barrels holding We Are Beer Bristol. An imperial stout with cocoa, vanilla and tonka bean. And, those cognac barrels were too nice to just get rid of. So, we brewed a barley wine and filled up the barrels with it. And, we’re very happy that we did. Very happy.

Bottle at home. Dark brown with off white head. Insane amount of tonka. Some cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla. Touch of wood. Fragrant, artificial and unbalanced. Maybe age has not been kind...

Brown with dark off white head - Malt with a sweet wood barrel aroma - Malt body with a sweet wood vanilla barrel flavour with some alcohol heat - The malt and wood vanilla flavours goes into the finish - This was good

Nice mahogany in the glass with a fine head Powerful and fine aroma Not to sweet for a beer like this Yes it is off course sweet. But not cloying. Quite balanced Oily texture and a fine duration Smoot carbonated. Dangerously easy to drink Good complexity in this one. And a well masked alcohol level Dried fruits, some spices, nutty, vanilla and coconut [Bottle shared by comrade ChrisOfstad]

33 cl bottle @ home. BBE 27.03.2021
Aroma is a bit odd with sweet malty tones, resin and metal. Flavour has strong vanilla tones, alcohol, sweet malt and some baking stuff. Unusual but I like this on some level.
