Bottle. Pours dark hazy amber with big beige-yellow creamy, persisting head and some lacing. Aroma is spicy, yeasty and fruity with ripe fruits, tons of sweet dried plums, caramel, malts. Taste is sweet, with a light but very subdued bitterness. Very smooth on the palate. Very nice Belgian ale, perfectly balanced, a bit like a pale version of a dubbel.

Amber with very small white head but a lot of bubbles. Sweet malts with big spices (koriander, cinnamon, nutmeg). Nice dried fruits and some apple, prunes and orange. Nice yeast profile and faint liquorice. Medium bodied with prickly carbonation. Decent stuff.

Anniversary beer launched in 2009 with thick, creamy, yellowish white head and cloudy amber colour. Smoky aroma, caramel, meat, pear, pineapple, honey. Nutty and caramelly malt basis, clearly sweetened with extra caramel, light flowery hops in the finish. Enjoyable but like most of the La Trappe beers, clearly short of the world class one finds in the Belgian trappist brands, and I mean this objectively, without being chauvinist.

Flaske 330ml fra Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Gylden. Svakt uklar. Bra middels høyt skum som varer en stund. Aroma av frukt & krydder. Smaken er karamell - uten å bli for søt. Lite kullsyre. Smaken får et lite alkoholpreg etter hvert.

Pours a slighty hazy amber color, topped with a very decent yellowish head and nice retention. Lot’s of bubbles. Malty aroma, some spices, some yeast smell as well. Not completely pleasant. Strong taste, starts slightly fruity, followed by very strong bitterness, some soury and metal feel aslo present. Spicy aftertaste. Not my favourite.

330 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 3/5/2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange copper color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of golden raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, toast, brown bread, candi sugar, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of golden raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, candi sugar, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy clove spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of golden raisin, plum, pear, apple, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast and bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian amber ale. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

0.33l bottle. Hazy deep orange body, off-white head. Aroma of champagne yeast, pepper, orange zest, floral hops and candi sugar. Taste of bread, orange zest, candi sugar, floral hops with a slight sour character. Nice one.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy who found it at Vrutak (thanks!). Poured a misty dark amber body with a huge off white head. Lovely aroma, creamy, spicy, sweet, apricot, some banana, but also some alcohol, hm. The taste is immediately a disappointment afterwards, meaty yeastiness initially sweet, gets better later on, giving out some weak esters, but never enchants, no hop flavor left, some unappealing bitterness maybe. As it warms, the taste develops, and it turns out a decent beer worthy of the La Trappe name.
