This beer is an American adaptation to the classic Belgian style of beer known as a Tripel. Historically Tripels were brewed to have a very light golden color, a moderate hop presence, and be around 9% alcohol. But we are not in Belgium, so I decided to crank up the hops, dry hop the beer with American Amarillo hops, and brew it to 10% ABV. This is our American Tripel, enjoy.

Sensory Profile:

Enjoy in a goblet or wine glass.

Tropical fruit and honey are the two biggest aromas coming from this lively brew. While the hop bitterness is not as powerful as an IPA, the hop flavor melds nicely with the fruity flavors created by the imported Belgian yeast strain used.

Food Pairing: This beer goes great with roasted vegetables, fish and rotisserie chicken. And it can be used as a aperitif before dinner with shrimp cocktail.

Bottle @ Greg’s dump, courtesy of BlackIPA. Thanks! Pours a hazy yellow orange appearance with a white head. Kind of bready, oxidized, lightly spicy hoppy, a touch citrusy, pale malty aroma. Pretty strong. Cardboard, paper, chewy malty, light toast, mild banana, lemon, a touch spicy flavor. Probably too old and though high boost is offered, I don’t even

Deep golden color, nice frothy chalk white head. The nose is fairly malty with bready notes and pears. Full bodied, very smooth and alcohol is well hidden. Although well made, the beer doesn’t show spectacular depth, but is ok. Decent bready finish.

Pours clear orange with good head and lacing. A little overrated among triples, but well put together. Florals in initial aroma with some booze. Can’t detect a whole lot more going on here other than that. Finishes a little sour. 750 ml bottle.

Golden colour, off-white head. Fruity aroma, somewhat sweet, light sickly, acetone, nail polish remover, malts, some tropical fruits. Sweet flavour, light sickly, malts and honey. Quite low carbonation, sickly, sweet finish.
Not my favourite.

Sampled from bottle @ ZZT VI. Hazy yellow to light orange color, small off-white head. Smell malts, fruitiness of orangepeel. Taste malts, orangepeel, fruitiness, some alcohol and lightly sweet. Nice! Medium to full body, medi carbonation.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma is quite hoppy for a tripel, with lots of dry hops, Belgian yeast and candied sugar. Flavour is super hoppy for a tripel, with lots of yeast, loads of dry hops, slight candied sugar and some funky character - slightly wild tasting. The wild, funky character becomes more pronounced with each additional sip. High carbonation, but perfectly suiting.
