La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

On tap @ Kick. Unclear deep orange body with a small, lacing off-white head. Nice, quit mild spicy aroma with fruit and berries, light malty. Flavor is sweet, smooth pale malt, spicy yeast, some fruit and not much bitterness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. Balanced all the way, subtle complexity with really high drinkability.

Draught @ Gastropuben KICK Malt & Mat, Kristiansand
Pours slightly hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast and hint of pepper and some fruits. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a fruity, slightly malty and pepper finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Classic ’strong saison’ since 1988. Off-white, thick, rocky head leaving pretty lacing on the edge of the glass, warm orange blonde colour, clear but gradually becoming more cloudy as the bottle is emptied. The aroma is a pleasant combination of fresh, sweet fruitiness (orange, pineapple, apple peel, melon) and an earthy, saison-like spicines (pepper, hay, nutmeg, herbal hops) with further impressions of bread, honey, biscuit, sherry. Fruity taste, fresh citrussy touch, light caramel malts, vaguely sweetish but above all dominated by an appetizing, spicy, earthy, rooty dryness stretching deep into the finish, where leafy hops and gin-like alcohol appear. Great example of its style, like all of Blaugies’ beers.

From the June 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml green bottle this beer poured a hazy golden-amber color with a huge fluffy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweetish, tangy and yeasty with a hint of golden fruit. The flavor was dryish and malty with bread dough, must and a hint of golden fruits. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.
