La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Bottle. Pours crystal clear amber, very large off-white head, dissipates fairly slowly leaving nice lacing behind. Aroma is dusty, black pepper, hay, Belgian yeast, some honey/caramel, earthy. Flavor is light sweet and light bitter, with that touch of honey once again. Herbal and field grass notes as well. Medium body, high carbonation.

A beautiful and lively beer, color is slightly reddish-yellow, a head is big, blond and clouding. The nose is fresh and fruitful, oranges and lemon, some sourness and spices, hint of bananas. Taste is fruitful, pears, some sourness and spicyness. Nice, sour and spicy aftertaste. Medium bodied, strong carbonation that is nicely smooth. Great balance, frutful saison. This feels better than aroma and taste indicates.

On tap @Buskers Pub (Rome). Unclear amber appearance with big white head. Aroma is yeasty with spices, malt, some floral notes and yellow fruits. Taste is medium sweet at first, then balanced by hops, malt, bread, some fruits and grass, dry and crisp, well done! Medium to full body, medium carbonation. A fantastic belgian saison.

Orangey amber in color. Opaque with haze. Big puffy off white head. Very good retention, though it’s a touch fizzy. The aroma is grass, lemons, fresh grain, very light caramel, peppercorn, a little mint. Big bready malt. Lots of spice and grassy hops. The taste is dry and moderately bitter. Tasty grain background. A little citrus. Fairly dusty with maybe a little cheesy funk. Easy to drink and refreshing. Lots of pleasant saison flavors bouncing around. Lots of carbonation. Fairly prickly. Settles into a full, round feel. Excellent saison.

On tap @ Una. A light clouded orange golden one with a nice small lacing off-white head. Really nice sweetish fruity nose with grapefruit, lots of melon and that yeast.. Lovely saison yeasty! Yeah, this is one saison smelly lovely saison. Lots of flavor also! Definitely a bit sweet, but also balanced with a near soapy zesty bitterness. Lots of good things here. Melon, cantaloupe and green grapes. Lovely. I'll actually go have another one cause this one is empty - and there's nothing else I really want on the board. 19.09.2014

On tap @ Kick. Unclear deep orange body with a small, lacing off-white head. Nice, quit mild spicy aroma with fruit and berries, light malty. Flavor is sweet, smooth pale malt, spicy yeast, some fruit and not much bitterness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. Balanced all the way, subtle complexity with really high drinkability.
