Tap. Deep brown with a lasting beige head. A: Spicy and a bit leathery with toffee and figs. Very Westmalle Dubbel - presumably that overbearing yeast is the archnemesis. Heavier than expected from the aroma - verging on syrupy and overtly boozy. Lots of dark fruit and sugars but not much dough. Bitterness is pretty firm and that spicy yeast really works to balance the heavy malt presence. This is very good and I'm guessing someone has been working up to this one for many years.

On tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown. Sugar, dried fruit, orange peel, zesty lemon, bit of banana and a peppery booze finish. Good Belgian.
