Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.
Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water

Interesting that the brewery says there’s a glitch and it’s being listed as a barleywine when actually it’s supposed to be a double IPA. I don’t pick up any indications of a double IPA at all and it’s an extremely smooth barleywine I guess.

Bottle from Taniguchi. Well priced in Japan for a 500ml bottle. Served in my teku glass it has a huge fruity boozy aroma: raisins and plums with some heat. Full bodied and smooth with a fruity and yet bitter hoppiness but also quite a bit of sweetness. Much less boozy than I feared with a nice depth of flavor and balance. I can see why this is in the Top 50.

--- Beer merged from original tick of #100 on 15 May 2018 at 21:20 - Score: 7
