24 oz. can. The aroma is actually attractive, though difficult to describe. Seems a bit floral with bready undertones. The color is orange tinged gold, and the white head fled quickly. Thin to medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. The flavor is somewhat biscuit, and there is definitely hop bitter. The alcohol intrudes at the finish, which is neither dry nor sweet. No particular bitter at the end. At least it’s not papery. There are many, many better beers, but it is drinkable.

Date code 11197 B80405. Can you believe this is the first time I ever drank this? I don’t know how I missed it in my cheap beer history. I never really associated ’The Bull’ with Schiltz. I find regular Schilts quite enjoyable as a cheap beer. Big 40 oz brown bottle with a resealable twist off cap. Etiolated yellow. Chronic fizz appears within. Aroma is mellifluous and acidulous. Taste impact is not demulcent. Has decent carbonation but IMHO needs more. Finish is adjure and stakhanovite. Overall not feckless, nearly offensive, does it’s job. Reminds me of many ’ice’ beers and other malt liquors.

Big bottle pours out a watery looking clear gold with almost no head. Almost no aroma too. I get just faint hints of corn flakes and vague bitterness. The taste is punctuated by the carbonation level allowing both the neutral bland bitterness and corn flake cereal rise up and out of the absence of flavor altogether. The taste then moves toward sugar sweetness and then back to corn flakes. The body is way too thin and all that beer had zero impact except the bladder and one less good beer I could have rated today.

This rubbish smells worse than Four O and looks less appealing than a glass of Aspen Edge. It is pretty much a crappy malt liquor with no real defining charecteristics. There is better crap and worse crap out there, so there is no reason to drink this. It’s not that I hate this swill, it’s rather that I would prefer not to drink it.

40 oz. Wow wow wow is this stuff bad. Malty, corny, and almost fuel like in aroma and flavor.

(Can 47,3 cl) Pale pilsener golden with a white head. Sweet aroma of brewing cereal. Thin and watery body with a high sweetness and notes of corn. No bitterness - this is all candy. Very inharmonious. 010406

Typical cheap malt liquor. Corn malt aroma. Yellow with decent head. Sweet corn malt flavor and sharp alcohol finish that burns the throat after swallowing. Fusels not quite as apparent as in many mainstream malt liquors. My first experience with this lovely beer was in 1986. I had spent the entire summer in glorious Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in Army Basic Training doing never-ending pushups and drinking nothing stronger than 2% milk and Army coffee. At the end of this great 10 weeks, my platoon was awarded the Honor Platoon for the company (which did nothing for us but got our Drill Sergeant honors as best Drill Sergeant). After weeks of yelling at us and making our lives miserable, suddenly the Drill Sergeants were our best friends. They bought us about 10 cases of various beers - one of which was a CASE of Schlitz Malt Likker (why don’t they do that anymore?). Now there are several points which must be made to understand this story: 1 - I was under 21 and was only a part-time beer drinker at this time, 2 - I hadn’t touched a drop of ethanol in about 3 months, 3 - I had lost about 40 pounds. So I got my can of SML (along with some Coors and something else - we each got 3 cans). Oh, did it taste glorious! And one beer was all it took to get me a hefty buzz (but of course, I had 2 more beers to drink). The next day was very fun. Only those who have been forced to stop drinking against their own will for a prolonged period can possibly understand the joy when you get your hands on a beer again (those who served in the military or those who have incarcerated - really not a great deal of difference overall). Had a similar experience 22 years later in Iraq - but at least there I could drink NA beer.

A re-rate from a really old one that seemed mostly from memory - something about how my dad’s softball buddies drank alot of this and maybe that’s why my dad could never get into beer. Well, sitting down with a 32oz bottle of this for the superbowl, I was shocked that it wasn’t really that terrible. White bread and candy corn aroma. Pale golden color, no head. Fizzy palate, with a light grainess and clean, empty finish. Not exactly watery at its strength, and never overpowers with the sickening fuselly sweetness you get in alot of malt liquors. So all in all, I’d say, shockingly OK.
