’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.

Bottle from Voldby Koebmandsgaard, DK - Fuzzy orange colour with a frothy medium off white head. Has a crispy pilsner lager initial taste, but then the beautiful citrus hops take over the palate accompanied by a backing of sweet caramel malt, ending with a good bitter finish. Really impressive stuff this.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear amber pour with soapy beige head, grassy hop aroma, quite heavy carbonation gives a crisp lagery mouthfeel, that’s where the comparison with lager ends, great hop taste, citrus, orange, passion fruit. Excellent.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours amber with a frothy head, just like a Vienna style. The nose is very IPA, rather than lager, but of course the hops are IPA hops - grapefruit and some pine. Same on the taste really. Overall, it’s a tasty beer but slightly disappointed that we’re not getting the classic German hops.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, caramel, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.

[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 8400] A slightly hazy golden going for amber beer with a huge bubbly white head. The aroma is very hoppy with notes of hops, grapefruit, pollen, caramel, and some malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel to start off with - seeming very ordinary at first, but then when the beer start running along the tongue things pick up. The powerful hoppiness really unfolds with notes of grass, grapefruit, flowers, alfa acid, and what not, leading to a crisp and very bitter finish which at first runs along and tickles the sides of the tongue, but at last leaves a bitterness on the tongue - craving another sip. Mixed into it all are light notes of caramel and pilsener malt. A really crisp, refreshing, and quaffable beer.
But be warned - this is no lawn mower beer, since the 8% ABV will creep up on you unnoticably and will impair your ability to operate machinery - or is it just, that it is so good, that you forget your duties and rather just have another?

EBF 2008, nice hoppy aroma, and flowery.. very very good. clear golden white head flavor is near perfect for my taste in a strong pilsene. still has the fresh pilsener taste, but so much more powerful. overall best pilsener i ever tasted.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of JanLaursen. Pours a cloudy, reddish amber with a creamy and lacing beige head. Lovely aroma of great aroma hops, intensely peachy and almost herbal. Medium body only, subtle malts only but loads of juicy fruits and then again a shitload of aroma hops leading to a bit of a hop kick in the finish. Has no real character of a Lager though. 210113

(On tap) Clear, deep golden with a creamy, off-white head. Fruity or perhaps rather floral aroma. Medium body with a solid base of pale pilsener malts and then a distinct, floral hopping. Very fresh and not harshly alcoholic as other beers of this style. 110507
