’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.

75 cl bottle, best before 13 Dec. 2009, so I’m assuming this is about 3 to 4 years old. Dark amber color. Off white head, that just keeps growing. Good lacing . Aroma’s of dried sweet fruit, caramel malt, some citrus, even a little salty. Flavor is medium sweet, hint of acidity, with a starting bitterness. High carbonation (at first). Finishes with a bit more acidity that turns into a dry bitterness. Clearly a bit old, but very drinkable.

750ml Bottle (which I finished quite quickly despite the ABV :D ). Deep golden with small white to off-white head. Aroma has a sweet malty background but it is domianted by a blast of flowery hops. i couldn’t stop smelling it. Sweet fruity taste, with lots of flowers from the hops, soem sugar and honey, and medium bitter end. Quite difficult to distinquish pilsner like characteristics, but I really enjoyed it and found it very drinkable for the abv content,

Bottle thanks to Illuvatarmilan at ‘Zieke Zuiden Tasting II’. Clear dark orange color, small white head. Smell lightly hops, slightly bitter, slightly orange and some fruityness. Taste fruits, lightly hops, bitter. Decent carbonation, low to medium body. (Note: best before December 2009)

Colour between caramel and gold, white head. Aroma of caramel, malts, light floral hops. Slightly sweet flavour, caramel, malts, slight clean hops bitterness. Finish lightly hoppy. Very clean and refreshing, despite the fact it wasn’t a fresh bottle at all. Nice.

Bottle looks simple, but really good. Beer in the glass deep golden-orange, huge head. Starts strong, fine malty-spicy, dry-hoppy background. Finish grasy-spicy, modest sweet-fruity. Well balanced and quite drinkable. I liked it!

Bottle, 10C. Just hazy gold with a large white head that fades to a fat coat then lasts. Aroma of lemon sherbet, peaches, light caramel, earth. Grainy sweetness, peaches, quite a lot of bitterness with zesty lemon, grapefruit and some pepper. Just slightly syrupy with some overt alcohol that creeps up over a glass. Rather empty in the middle, but I guess that’s the flipside of "clean". The hop aroma is very nice indeed and the beer is quite good overall but to me is finessing a game not obviously worth the candle.

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, grain, yeast and citrus. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a pleasant warmth from the alcohol and bitter finish. Body is medium to full, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Pours orange/amber with a large, lasting head.Nose shows lots of fruity hops, lychee and pineapples really stand out but also mango and peach. Other than that, very clean with some soft biscuity malt in the background.Similarly fruity flavours, but there’s also a huge resinous, piney kick that lasts right through the sharp, bitter finish. Also lots of light sweet clean malt and some alcohol.A bit too much booze, and when combined with the sharp, unchecked bitterness it seems a bit harsh.

330 ml. bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen. When the bottle opens, the hop aromas jumps into the nose. Very promising. Weak malt aromas, but very dominated by the bitter hop aromas, and a slight splash of alcohol. White foam, orange/golden somewhat hazy colour. Medium to heavy bitterness a pleasent warming from the alcohol, an impressive body for its style, lively carbonation, and a very long finish. This is the best bloody "pilsner" i´ve ever had, but considering the price tag and the hefty 8 % alc. this not something your pour down a hot summer day...
