Clear dark brown - red beer. Short lived tan head. Palate is slightly dry. Toffee malt with a tiny weeny bit of orange hop at the end. A real toffee beer. Pleasant enough if one dimensional.

Little cloudy red to purple beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, fruity, dried fruits, chocolate, some mocha. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, chocolate, some hints of dried fruits, little bit of spices, slightly bitter and dry. Aftertaste: bitter hops, some alcohol, sweet caramel, quite a lot of spices.

750 c&c from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Pours hazy dark brown with a bubbly slight tan head. Aroma of mixed dark fruits and a suggestion of chocolate. Med body. Not strongly carbonated. Flavor is sort of date/raisin with some light spice. It is both sweet and bitter. Overall it comes across like an aged old ale. Made me think of Gales Prize Old Ale. Not there yet, but it might with a few more years.

Aroma: It's a bit odd: some dark malts, raisins and figs, caramel, and maybe some chemical notes
Appearance: Pours sort of a muddy brown color with a slight red hue, small head, light lace
Flavor: The taste is both sweet and a little sour, definite raisin presence, and a drop of spice
Palate: The carbonation is fairly soft, maybe a little acidic on the mouth, and medium bodied
Overall Impression: This beer is a little on the weird side. It grew on me as I drank it, but I didn't love it. There is something about it that was just a touch off for me. Anyway, its alright stuff, but not something I'd rush out for again.

Bottle at Birch & Barley. Murky brown, large bubble head. Aroma of sweat, wood, caramel, spice. Taste has raisin, prune, chocolate. Not bad.

750 ml. Deep amber/copper body. Short, fizzy head, rapidly and fully diminishing. Sweet aroma of caramel, candy sugar, toasted grain, herbs, mold. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lighlty bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Lots of alcohol in the finish. Starts promising with some nice malty and yeast flavors, but turns hot with alcohol in the finish. Dry. The aroma is better than the flavor.

Bottle. It’s a hazy, chestnut colored beer topped by a small, firm beige head. Sugary, alcoholic, spiced nose that reminds me of a mulled, spiced red whine. Some dried fruits, and a good dash of yeast. Sweet, spiced flavor with a good dash of alcohol. Dried fruits too. Low on bitterness. Full-bodied, slightly over-carbonated and definitely too sweet. Not a bad beer, but too sweet and warming. I won’t miss it. 101006
