From a 375ml bottle on 20/11/2109 (2019 bottle, ABV 5.2%, 2019 AIBA gold medal sticker on the neck). Pours a clear dark brown with a medium head. Has a pronounced malty nose. Flavours are chocolate, cola and mild roasted malt. Definitely on the sweet side with just the barest hint of bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Pleasant enough but didn't blow my hair back.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of bread, caramel, pepper and other spices, some coffee. And so it tastes. Slightly sweet, malty with some modest roasty touches, peppery accents. Quite dry at the end, lowish bitterness. Enough to keep you interested but it is a bit thin. It’s well done and has everything I tolerate about the style.

On tap at 4 Pines, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and a little burnt coffee. Flavour brings out roasted malt and a touch of burnt caramel. Dry and roasty, not terribly complex, but decent.
