Apparently, Adam was pretty disappointed when the serpent offered him an apple. And we don’t blame him. This Forbidden Fruit is dark red, softly sweet, caressing and full in the mouth. It is brewed with roasted malt and hops, giving it a typical herbal plant aroma. By the way, it’s not forbidden to have a taste.

Bottle. Almost clear a.k.a. slightly cloudy amber/orange sporting a firm white head. Aroma of brown sugar, malts, candied fruits, vanilla, clove and assorted herbs. Taste is all that plus apricots, hints of apples, caramel, raisins, spices and honey. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Mouthfeel is kind of sticky. It’s a little bit boozy and probably more than capable of creating an impressive headache if consumed irresponsibly. Good stuff. Improves immensely with time.

Rocky off white head left a foamy cover on a dark amber body. Spices, tea & caramel aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with clean back. Bitter/sweet dried fruits, spices, tea, malt & caramel tastes. Similar to an English Ale.

Bottle given to me from my friend Sam. Pours a murky muddy brown colour with a reddish hue and a large thick creamy beige head. Nice lacing. Aromas of strong bananas and cloves, dry dark fruits, caramel, toffee, spice, bread, brown sugar and yeast. Taste is the same notes again as the aroma with predominant notes of bananas and cloves, some spice, a little sweetness and some warming alcohol. Medium bodied with a slight fizz on the palate, smooth slightly oily mouthfeel and a long fruity, spicy and slightly sweet finish. An excellent flavourful beer.

Hoeggarden Forbidden Fruit 8.5% Plum brown opaque with a fat light beige head and a yeasty bready soft spicy aroma. Medium bodied and smooth with a scratchy mouthfeel. The taste is a touch boozy but also bread pudding, caramel and spices. Not the best dark Belgian ale but OK.
