Bottle. Deep amber color with huge white head. Sweet malty aroma with candies, red fruits, caramel, Belgian yeast. Sweet malty taste with candies, coriander, honey, raisins. Good.

The descendant of the original Diesters Bier, but in its current form more a kind of witbier-influenced ’massieve ale’. Thinnish, pale beige, relatively quickly opening but nevertheless stable head over a hazy burgundy beer. Aroma of chocolate, cognac, wheat, coriander seed, orange peel, candied dates, raisins, butterscotch, banana, tea, marzipan, aniseed, liquorice, coffee grounds, overripe peach but clear cooked vegetable as well, a bit disturbing and ’unnatural’, but the other aromas almost make up for it. Sweet taste, candi sugar, raisins, banana, finely tingling carbonation, wheaty sourish touch, dried citrus peel and coriander obvious, smooth caramelly malt base, somewhat starch-like mouthfeel, drying finish with some roasted bitterness (coffee and fondant chocolate), leafy ’Euro’ hops, coriander again and some warming, bourbon-like alcohol, a little bit astringent. Far from the best ’massieve ale’ around but not bad at all, especially for an AB InBev product. One of their best products on the Belgian market, I’d argue.

Bottle @ Comptoir des Arts, Brugge. Hazed amber-red with a thick head and a mildly stewed apple aroma and taste. There’s some spice in its aftertaste, but nothing significant.

Murky light brown with creamy off-white head. Sweet fruits, berries, light peach, with strong aroma of spices (cloves, cumin, pepper, cinnamon). Light roasted maltyness. Unlike I expected it’s not really very sweet in the taste, has a good tart middle and dry bitter finish with some herbal notes. Overall slightly boring aroma, but taste is enjoyable.

Bottle. Gusher. Pours murky rich amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit and caramel malt, with notes of hops. Sweet flavour of mal and fruit, with notes of caramel and alcohol bitterness. Bitter, slightly vinous aftertaste. Decent.

Murky, amber. Gushing. Airy, white head. Aroma is fruity, malty, lightly spicy. Flavour is spicy, yeasty, dried fruit. Creamy mouthfeel. Light, dry finish.

Orange-trübe Farbe und süßlich-würziger Geruch. Der Antrunk ist mild-würzig-süßlich. Zum hauptteil hin entfaltet sich eine schöne Note aus vergorenen dunklen Früchten mit einem leicht karamellig-wirkenden Aroma. Hinzu kommt eine leichte, aber angenehme Herbe. Auf der Zunge bleibt eine süßliche, aber nochnicht klebrige, feinherbe Note zusammen mit dem angenehmen Aroma vergorener, dunkler Früchte und einem schoko-karmell Ton.

26/8/16: Different than I remember. Dark, rich, bittersweet, supple. Spices are clearly there, seem to mostly recognise a bunch of cinnamon. Nice :)
