Bottle. Gold, no head. Aroma of the barn, old apples, lemon, oak. A little toffee apple. Light bodied, slippery, flat. Sour - more sour than funky - with lemon, apples, apricots and their stones. No vinegar. A little toasty/ brûlée note that works nicely. I guess Boatrocker has been the Australian brewery that has most consistently made the beer it has intended to over the past 5 years, so this is not that big a surprise. It’s rather refined and I would have liked it a little more feral, but presumably there’ll be others from this programme and this is a very solid foundation as well as a fine beer itself.
