(Bottle) Pours almost black with thick tan head. Lovely aroma - raisins, port, toffee, hints of chocolate. Great palate - full bodied, thick, slightly sticky with soft bright carbonation. Taste starts rich and fruity with raisins. There’s a subtle toffee sweetness. Chocolate and malty notes come through in the mid palate, and some well balanced coffee, hoppy, burnt bitternes in the finish. Very nice.

640mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Nose brings out a good mix of roasted malt and piney hops - pretty typical for the style. Flavour is surprisingly easy-drinking for the style, with robust roasted malt and piney hops in good balance. No harshness at all. Very nicely done.

Bottle. Dark brown with an inch of light tan head. Seething aroma of kumquats, grapefruit, nectarines with pain au chocolat behind. Medium to full bodied, moderate carbonation. Getting towards silky. Sweet with mocha, fudge, biscuit. Fruit flavours struggle to assert themselves as much as in the aroma, but gradually show through. Alcohol is well hidden. Very good, but doesn’t quite live up to the aroma.

From a 640ml bottle on 17/10/2015. Pours not far off black with a big tan head. Has a big nose featuring lots of tropical fruit, some piney hops and some chocolate. In the mouth, it’s got terrific balance for a big beer. There’s heaps of sweet fruit and chocolate, set off against some really firm hops and a distinct roasty, lingering bitterness. The texture is quite creamy and the carbonation. Long, intense, complex and harmonious. Yet another great beer from Riverside.
