Draught as part of a tasting paddle, at The Local Taphouse in Sydney, on October 10, 2015.Clear deep red to black color, tan to light brown head. Butterscotch, caramel, toffee cent. Malty, grainy, light butterscotch taste. Malty aftertaste, some butterscotch. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Pours black with a large tan head.Nose shows bready malt, liquorice and soft roast.Flavours incldue toast malt, a roasty astringency and more liquorice.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of licorice, molasses, nut oil, some roasted malt, pepper. No smoke. Texture of cream. Very smooth a clean with sweet singed caramel leading into licorice and spices (pepper, Sichaun pepper, anise). Interesting, wish it wasn’t quite so strong.
